  5. Forum Rules

First and foremost, we want to have a community helpful and respectful to each other.
This is especially true in interaction with moderators; they make the high quality of these forums possible by enforcing these rules in the interest of the whole forum

    1. Being friendly to each other.
In general, the conversation should be kept kind and helpful. Even though sometimes it might be hard to keep being friendly - try it anyway. Expressing your opinion in friendly words will get you further than if you don't.
Insults, excessive spam, thread hijacking and obscenity of any kind will not be tolerated and deleted. Depending on how servere the breach of these rules is, actions may be taken to warn  or even ban you from using this forum. "Spam" includes useless, offtopic posts which don't make any sense in the context of the original topic. "Thread hijacking" means that instead of sticking to the topic of the original post, the thread is - sucessfully or unsuccessfully- led offtopic.

    2. Searching, then asking
The forum search function as well as the lexicon section should be used before asking.
If you find an answer there, you will have wasted less of your and the others time.
This is also the fastest way to find a solution to your problems and easy questions can be answered faster this way.

    3. Choose the right forum
For a better overview, the forum has several subforums dividing the categories. Please choose the one fitting to your post topic.
This way somebody compentent to answer your question will find it faster.

    4. Creating threads(Questions, Discussions, etc.)
Before creating a new thread, please make sure that this topic hasn't been discussed in the recent past (use the search function) and whether you are posting it in the right forum section. If there is no fitting open thread, you can open a new thread.
The thread title should make sense and one should easily see what the thread is about (that also makes using the search function easier).
Neither repeating letters or punctuation as well as all-capital text should not be in your thread(-title)(bad example: „HEEEELP!!”).

Always consider that your questions will always be answered by volunteers in their spare time, taking themself time for their posts. Please do the same and think of your wording, correct writing and style before creating a post.

Describe any problems as detailed as possible. Posting your game.log.txt in a spoiler is important for an exact analysis of the problem.
Questions via e-mails or personal messages (pm) will almost never be answered and are especially annoying.
Please refrain from using these methods unless asked.Bitte verzichtet darauf, außer es bittet euch jemand ausdrücklich darum.

    5. Answering to threads
Correct spelling should be used so your texts are well readable; Punctuation and line breaks are not hard to use either and will make reading your posts considerably easier for others.
The usage of more than three punctuation marks in a row and writing in all capital or much bigger font sizes is discouraged and is interpreted as crying for attention, which is not liked.
The color red is to be used by members of the staff only.

Answers only consisting out of an agreement to another post should be avoided. They are neither helpful nor do they help to create an engaging discussion.  A few additional words explaing your reasoning won't take much of your time and are helpful. In the same way it is useless to answer to help requests by just stating that you can't help.

Should you wish to add additional ideas to your post, don't post directly again, but instead edit your post. You can also edit posts to correct eventual mistakes. Use this possibility!

When answering a thread, stay on topic.(→spam/thread hijacking) In a discussion it can happen that offtopic discussions are created. Should that happen then moderators might choose to delete or move unfitting posts to other forum sections.

Discussions about politics, world view or other possibly controversial topic are to be posted to with equivalent care. Those topics could lead easily to angered opinion fights which is why moderators might close the discussion, should this tendency be present.

    6. Giving feedback
You can of course always ask further. That is normal and is not distracting, unless the question has already been asked several times. Using the feedback buttons under the posts will make the helper happy and signalises later readers that the answer was good. Please ask for especially well answered interesting questions to be included in the FAQ.

    7. Returning the favour
Were the others able to help you? Do the same and try to find questions where you can help others.
The idea of this forum is helping, and getting helped as a result.

    8. Violation of forum rules
If you see violations of these forum rules, please don't react yourself to this violation, but instead use the report function, so moderators will take care of the problem.

    9. Threads closed/locked by staff members
Has staff member closed a topic from further posts, further threads are not to be created dedicated to continuing the closed thread. Threads are always being closed for good reasons, even though these might not be immediatly obvious. Should a forum member want to continue a thread even though it is closed, the forum member should send a personal message to the responsible admin/moderator.

If a user violates this rule, the minimum penalty is a warning, multiple incidents can lead to bans.

    10. Showing off projects
It is forbidden to ask mappers and modders for a download if there isn't one.
Should somebody choose to offer something for download, it is their own free decision. Many mappers and modders have actually stopped working just because of continuing begging for downloads.

    11. Posting images and screenshots
You can upload your images by posting them in the gallery and linking them in your answer, as long as this image is neither a breach of our forum rules nor of existing rights such as copyright.
Should you find a post violating some rule, we would like you to message the staff, so the violation of the rules can be removed. Should this happen then the poster of the image should expect consequences.
Furthermore, the following rules are for posting images:

      • Images are to be posted in the formats .jpg/.jpeg only.
      • Your post may contain up to 10 images(exceptions are tour-diaries or moderator approved exceptions)
    12. No support via e-mail, voicechat(Skype) or private messages
Because the TSM team is sometimes confronted with support requests via e-mail, skype or private messages, we have to create a rule here making our work easier for the benefit of our community.
Support requests via those methods will not be answered, the forum is to be used instead. We will ignore or even delete those requests.

    13. Downloads
External downloads not about TSM are forbidden and will be deleted without asking. The poster should expect a warning or even ban.

    14. Creating a signature
Your signature can be used to give your posts an individual note. To ensure an easy overview, some rules need to be followed:

      • The signature may maximally include one image, which size may not exceed 300px wide and 100 px high and a file size of 200kb
      • In addition to the image, max. 4 lines of text and two empty lines are allowed.

Important: Bigger font sizes restrict the amount of allowed lines
      • 3 lines in font size 12
      • 4 lines in font size 10
      • Font sizes smaller than 10 are not liked because it will be too hard to read

    15. User names

User names should be chosen carefully. While choosing your user name, consider the following:
      - no domains / URLs or email adresses in the name
      - no names of companies or brands
      - no names which could lead to mistake in name with another user who is already registered
      - no offensive names, which includes sexually explicit terms, also no special names of figures of terrorism in human history (e.g. no right-wing radicals, no racism)
      - no randomly generated names, no letter/number code without meaning

Names which violate these rules can be modified or deleted by our staff.

    16. Moderator applications
Please refrain from writing applications for being a staff member.
At the moment, the staff team is well built and will consider more staff members, should the need arise, by itself.
      Therefore applications are useless.

    17. Erasing user profiles
The forum user accepts that by deleting his account, his posts might not be deleted.
The adminstration will consider which posts are to be deleted and which kept.

    18. Links to other forums / Copying our Downloadlinks to other sites
Other forums are not to be linked here generally, and it is strictly forbidden to copy our download links to your own or other websites!

    19. Languages
The forum languages are German, English and Italian. Please use one of these languages.

    20. TSM-Teamspeak
The teamspeak (TS) can be used by everyone.
There you can plan tours with your friends or talk about other things related to trucksim.
Please consider that we are currently sharing our team speak with a WoW clan, so please be thoughtful of each other.
It is forbidden for you to access any sub-channels of Carmina Burana.
Should somebody be away for a longer time, he should switch to one of the AFK channels.
Users having TSM in front of their user name and a special icon, are staff members.
Disregarding Rules set by the teamspeak moderation can lead to temporal bans.

    21. Strictly forbidden post content
Especially forbidden are posts which glorify violence, discriminating or in any other way break existing laws, as well as links to pages with those contents.
Furthermore we forbid links without connection to the topic or links for commercial reasons and the posting or mail adresses.

    22. Problems with staff members
Should you have problems with a staff member,
you can send a personal message to "Thomas".
We will try to clear the problem, please don't complain in the forum.

Last but not least it should be noted that any breaking of the rules and depending on the level of the infringement it will result in a warning or a temporary exclusion or a permanent ban.

  6. Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on

Website users who don’t want their data collected with Google Analytics can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. This add-on instructs the Google Analytics JavaScript (ga.js, analytics.js, and dc.js) running on websites to prohibit sending information to Google Analytics.

To opt-out of Analytics for the web, visit the Google Analytics opt-out page and install the add-on for your browser. For more details on installing and uninstalling the add-on, please see the relevant help resources for your specific browser.

Updates to your browser or operating system may affect the functionality of the opt-out add-on. Learn about managing add-ons for Chrome here. If you are not using Chrome, check directly with the manufacturer of your browser to determine whether add-ons will function properly on the browser version that you are using.

The latest versions of Internet Explorer sometimes load the Google Analytics opt-out add-on after sending data to Google Analytics. Therefore, if you are using Internet Explorer, the add-on will set cookies on your computer. These cookies ensure that any collected data is immediately deleted from the collection server. Please make sure that third party cookies aren’t disabled for your Internet Explorer browser. If you delete your cookies, the add-on will, within a short timeframe, reset these cookies to ensure that your Google Analytics browser add-on remains fully functional.

The Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on does not prevent data from being sent to the website itself or in other ways to web analytics services.
